Miguel de Cervantes was a Spanish writer of the Renaissance Era. His most notable work is the novel Don Quixote (a short title for The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha), published in 1612 (Part 1) and 1620 (Part 2). It is considered the first modern novel in Western literature.
