Read Across America Day commemorates Dr Seuss and his contribution to children’s literature. The date is Dr Seuss’s birthday on March 2. On this day, activities are held in schools, libraries or book fairs to promote reading and literacy. You can also celebrate at home by reading to your children, or in any other place where reading may be rewarding, such as hospitals, community centres, or churches. Even if Dr Seuss’s stories are the staple of the day, reading other kinds of books and authors is encouraged.
