April is the U.S. National Poetry Month, but it is also held in Canada. It was launched by The Academy of American Poets. The goal is to promote poetry as widely as possible, in schools, libraries, bookshops, events, and at home, and to advocate its significance in culture and society. Keep in mind that poetry was the primary chosen form in which plays and stories were written before the spread of prose. And it is the basis of modern songwriting structures too!
